BoxingYoga at Total Boxer

BoxingYoga™ is a yoga-based training system to support fighters, athletes, and anyone with an active lifestyle; improving mental and physical strength and flexibility to prevent injury, maximise performance and maintain optimal health.

The discipline abandons yoga's more traditional conventions - chanting, esoteric beliefs underlying yoga philosophy and Sanskrit terminology - and focuses on a streamlined activity, directly targeting improved sporting performance.
BoxingYoga™ methodically strengthens and stretches the entire body and offers fighters a considered approach to explore coordination, body awareness and correct posture alignment. As a result, BoxingYoga™ helps to drastically shorten recovery time and cultivates relaxation and muscular tension release. These are important factors in order to prevent injuries and optimise a healthy body and mind-set.

To maximise performance, BoxingYoga™ focuses on utilising the whole body in a kinetic chain reaction with the power of the core and spiral dynamics of the spine. BoxingYoga™ looks at the whole pattern of movement in the musculoskeletal system and offers multi-stretching exercises in sequences, thus providing a routine for developing whole-body flexibility.
Beyond the physical practice, BoxingYoga™ helps fighters to remain calm and focussed, to manage their emotions and develop instinctive and intelligent reactions under stressful conditions.
A BoxingYoga™ class merges boxing technique with traditional and innovative yoga postures in a 60-minute class format. The four stages of the class are performed in one continuous movement sequence to music, with intensity adapted to participant's needs and ability.
Conceived by Total Boxer founder, Matt Garcia, and developed by international contemporary dancer and lifelong yoga practitioner and teacher, Kajza Ekberg, in collaboration with boxers, yogis, martial artists and physiotherapists, BoxingYoga™ is a real challenge whatever your level or experience.
